Support My 24 Hour Blogging Marathon and Help the Homeless In Vancouver
The homeless crisis in Vancouver is out of hand, with many of the individuals on Vancouver's downtown eastside being forced to spend every night outside. While the government pumps hundreds of millions of dollars into the Olympics and tourism, these people are left to rot on the streets, with no place to turn.
I'm participating in a 24 hour blogging marathon called Blogathon. The entries will be available starting tonight (July 25th, 2008) at 10pm, and ended tomorrow at 10pm. The charity I'm supporting is the Union Gospel Mission in Vancouver.
Please head over to my website at http://duanestorey.com and lend your support, either by giving a pledge or by dropping a comment. My goal is to reach $1000 in donations before the event is over. Every dollar donated will ultimately help someone get off the streets, or potentially give someone a warm bed to sleep in for a few nights. Thanks.

This sounds like an amazing event! I wish I could attend. I will be out of town though.
Please make this into a blog post and I will promote it to the front page of ChangeEverything so that more people see it.

Hello there, A team
Hello there,
A team comprised of my friends and myself have organized an art and music show where all the artists and musicians are homeless from our Downtown East Side.
Simply said, I had a conversation with a homeless man that built into a friendship. He said he is an artist and so I gave him paints and brushes. He sold over fifty paintings in a month. I met more homeless men who shared the same talents, others with musical talents and others with talents in mechanics. From this grew the interest in presenting their work and talents under one roof, Chapel Arts. 100% of art work sales go to the artist. The musicians and mechanics will get 60% from what is donated at the door, for entry. The remaining 40% will be retained for future shows.
Date: Sunday, August 24th, 2008
Time: Opening day/night 1 - 9 pm
Place: Chapel Arts, 304 Dunlevy Ave. Vancouver
I would like to invite you to this amazing event.
Thank you for your time,
Alina
