Recess
Taking a SHORT break from the running right now. I have so far meant to go running 3 times and not made it because it was either too hot, I was too tired, or I just didn't feel like it. I know that I am not in good enough shape to be taking a break, but I also know that when training starts on July 20th it's going to be a really hard slog and I'll be glad of the rest. Besides, summer is here! It's beach time.

Who says you can't enjoy the beach AND run?
Sounds like you need a breakthrough--some force to push you to get back on your feet. Look within yourself for the motivation.
So gulp down something to drink, put on the running clothes and shoes and get out the door. Slow down for the heat and just enjoy the running.
Don't let the days turn into weeks. When training arrives on the 20th, you'll be glad you started up sooner rather than later.
Hang in there.

Three more suggestions for
Three more suggestions for running in the heat - go early (before work or 10 am, whichever you can manage), or run in a park with shady trees (like the Endowment Lands) where you can beat the heat. Third suggestion - run with a friend - not only is it more social, but there's nothing like the fear of letting someone down to get your butt in gear (I find this last one's the charmer for me)!

Hi Degan, Happened across
Hi Degan,
Happened across your blog while seeing how this tag stuff works. I too am running in November in Greece so we will meet somewhere on the road near the Parthenon.
It's hot as blazes here in Ontario too, but... we don't have the seawall, Stanley Park, Endowment Lands or Wreck Beach to run on. (I added the last one just for fun).
If you want motivation you can take a look at my blog.

Good luck and see you at the airport

Sometimes our mind knows
Sometimes our mind knows something we don't. I would go with it for a few days more and give your permission to rest. I bet your body will talk your mind into it before you know it. It's like TRYING to run slow - you can only do it so long before the body takes over to the speed it prefers.

Richard "Think of doing
Richard "Think of doing something that matters each day"
I can relate, it's so hard to run especially in this weather, but I went last night. It was great! I always find that when I'm the most tired is especially when I need to go out for a run, whether it be only for 5 kms or more, it always feels great :)
good luck, keep it up
