Achey Breaky Body

Run a Marathon

Yesterday was a bad day for my body. I had a reasonably good day, but my body didn't really, and I am still aching today. I started off with my 16 K run yesterday AM, early. It was going super well because I bought a new watch (yes, I am in full shopping mode these days, at least in terms of running things) that has linked timers, but then when I was about half way done, I got a terrible pain in my hip that I couldn't stretch out, no matter how hard I tried. And I did try hard. it seemed to me like it would feel better if I could open my hip at a 90 degree angle, so I hooked my foot into a park bench and kind of hung upside down in a twisty position. I'm sure I don't have to tell you that I fell on my ass a few seconds later and to add insult to injury, the pain in my hip did not go away.

I tried to run on it anyways, but it became kind of excruciating and I was limping, so I ended up walking a lot of the way back - something I was REALLY hoping to not have to do, considering that I'm already behind in my training, but anyways.  And now that it's still hurting a day later, I don't actually think it's something that can be stretched out. It feels like it might be on the joint or something. I want to say my rotator cuff, but I'm pretty sure that's not in your hip. Anyways.

In the afternoon we went to a bbq at the dog park for Sofia's dog class and I got attacked by some weird biting insect that seemed to love me, so we left there and went downtown, where the sole came off of my shoe and I landed flat on my ass (second time in one day) on the sidewalk, legs ungracefully splayed and skinned knees and feet bleeding. Ack!

Somewhere in there I also had a nasty headache.

So today I am stiff, achey, itchy, limping, bleeding, scratching and thanking my lucky stars that this is an "OFF" day on my training calendar. The most beautiful word in the English language...
