Dave’s last blog . . .

Everywhere!

It’s my last week as Vancity CEO and I can’t help but feel nostalgic. How do I capture seven incredible years of working in a great organization? Vancity’s Statement of Values and Commitments, The Big Switcheroo, the Vancity story and “An Inconvenient Truth” – just a few of the my big moments. And as for An Inconvenient Truth, who are we as a financial institution to talk about climate change? Actually, I can’t think of anyone better—and it brings me full circle to what I meant seven years ago when I committed Vancity to effect positive change in our communities. I have been completely taken by surprise at the way that you – on ChangeEverything - have embraced this message. Thank you for showing the there’s a convergence of thinking about what a financial institution and a community can do when they work together to effect positive change. I leave knowing that Vancity is in good hands. I’ll keep my ears open across the Rockies as I continue to hear all the good things that Vancity and ChangeEverything are up to in the days ahead.

Thanks for your years of work! I'm extremely pleased with what VanCity does for the community (global and smaller), and that I don't get nailed with excessive fees like I used to with other financial institutions...!

As a sometimes Vancity employee (and all-times Vancity member), I know how much you'll be missed by all of us.  Good luck spreading the green message in the tar sands, sir!

Change, how appropriate it

Change, how appropriate it is to blog this change on changeeverything.ca. I wish you a interesting furture and thank you for changeeverything. I hope that Vancity will continue as an entity that believes in good corporate citizenship and that it is important to contribute back to the community.

Even more, I hope you can bring and spread this message in Alberta for should those ideas take root in that soil it could have far reaching effects on the entire country.

good luck

Dave, from one Climate Project presenter to another, congrats on everything you've achieved so far -- and the many more successes to come.
