What’s Gone Well Today

I was introduced to WGWT by my neighbour Christopher Bowers of Conversation Works which operates a charity to help people of all ages discover how the wider world works.

Instead of the usual “how are you, how’s it going” he would greet me with “What’s gone well today?” His hope is that people will find more highlights in their day, and discover deeper connections with one another by addressing one another in this way.

So it is with this in mind I welcome you to use the question many times in your day, with yourself, a friend or a stranger. And it would be a special bonus if you would write to us at “According To George” and tell us What’s Gone Well for you. It could be something as simple as expecting the worst, and finding something to laugh about. “What, no peanut butter ...oh, there it is at the back of the fridge. Goody.”

I had an experience of losing my car keys on top of Mt. Tolmie, while walking our dogs. I was really time jammed, and in my best go to meeting clothes. I felt enormous frustration and annoyance at my carelessness. Then I looked up and saw a young man whom I had chatted with other mornings, and boldly said “could you give me a ride home .....and my dogs ...I’ve lost my keys. He was working on a building project, and had a jeep jam packed full of equipment. He said “sure.” As he shifted all sorts of equipment to make room for us, the dogs took off, knowing they did to want to ride. Finally I was able to convince them to stay, and I tried to get in the jeep, skirt and all. This was hilarious to behold, as I needed a mighty boost. We got home, another friend picked me up, and I got to my meeting in time. The young man, Jordy will always stand out in my heart. The image of the whole event plays over in slow motion for me now, and as I write, I am still grinning.
