My Job Hunting Progress
In my previous blog post, I have complied a list of "things to do." I have completed some of the tasks:
- Contacted reference for permission again and update reference lists
- Converted my Master's Thesis into PDF and uploaded It to my site
- Printed about 7 planning job openings in BC and Alberta that I will apply
- Borrowed a book from the library on job hunting: "Knock 'em Dead 2006: The Ultimate Job Seeker's Guide." I have begun reading it and it is packed with information.
I have worked on other tasks that were not on my list:
- Visited Cyburbia.org and searched for common "interview questions" and tips. In addition, I browsed for general career advice
- Photocopied university transcripts and certificates
- Contacted a friend in Calgary for local knowledge and information (I will move to Calgary at the end of this month)
Once I finalize my resume, by tomorrow, I will begin sending cover letters and resumes to the available job openings. At the same time, I will need to prepare for the possible interview questions. Plus, I will need to consult some of my planning resource books to refresh my memory.
So far, I am not satisified with my progress. It has been slow; I will need to make up for lost time.
By the way, my job hunting web site is: CityPlanners.com. I have created this site for job hunting and for future use related to city planning. Currently, you will find my thesis there.
My thesis examines the impacts of urban entertainment centres on their host communities. Urban entertainment centres are large-scale complexes that emphasize on entertainment and experience. The thesis examines two local case studies of entertainment centres: International Village Shopping Centre in Chinatown Vancouver and Riverport Sports and Entertainment Complex in Richmond.
The direct URL to view and download my thesis is at http://cityplanners.com/thesis/ .
What are your comments and suggestions in my progress and steps? What are your thoughts on my job hunting web site?
Thank you in advance for your help!

Hi,
Thanks for your suggestions! I have heard about Crunchboard, but not ODesk. I have visited them and will take a look at them regularly.
At the same time, I will continue my search for "planning" jobs.
Thanks for your help!
