Be The Change

Hello Everybody,

This is my first post. I work for Vancity in Victoria, and I am always trying to reduce my own carbon footprint and "be green" around the office. I walk to work (most of the time), use re-usable containers, recycle EVERYTHING(almost), donate to as many organizations making good change as I can afford,and take interest in what our members are doing to make our community a little more green.

Like me, there are many employees of Vancity who care about the environment and make choices in their everyday life to help our planet, too many to name in fact. I am just going to tell you about two people who are consistantly impressing me with their efforts.

1) Danella - our Community Investment Manager, who spends countless hours out in the community getting to know our members. She is always working on something to make the branch a little more environmentally friendly. Her latest project is trying to get a composting program into our branch to furthur reduce our waste. Thanks Danella!

2)Michaela - A part-time Financial Services Representative. Michaela and I work together to "police" the branch and make sure everyone is recycling what they can, turning off their moniters, printers etc. Michaela recently came up with an idea to reduce the size of our garbage can and take the lid off so we can see what goes in each day! Thanks for always coming up with new ways to make our office and the people who work here more green!
