heArt for families

Art goes beyond words. Making art lets us communicate what sometimes cannot be verbalized--myths, dreams, fantasies. Doing art together let us express ourselves in another way. This is the goal of heArt for families to enjoy and express ourselves in a new way.

heArt for families wants to take 10 East side families who have never been to the Art Gallery to the supersunday program on October 21, 2007. Entrance fee, lunches and bus tickets will be provided

Families might be--working poor, on GAIN, single parent, two adults, grandparent and parent,---???? A ratio fo 1 adult to 2 children is good. With 4 kids, we'd want 2 adults.

Supersunday at Vancouver Art Gallery gives a wonderful fun filled venue for families to discover and respond to art together. It opens up the world of art and artists to families through “close looking” of paintings, as well as hands on activities. Every third Sunday the Vancouver Art Gallery is filled with families learning about art together: using clues to hunt for pictures, watching performances, making projects in painting, drawing, collage, weaving—many exciting forms which relate to the displays.

Super Sunday happens every third Sunday of the month at The Vancouver Art Gallery, 750 Hornby Street (between Robson and Georgia) Vancouver 604 662 4719. It runs from noon to 5PM. Entrance fee is $19.50 per adult; children under 12 are free.

Donations VAG has already agreed to do 2 for 1 one the cost. Needed: bag lunches for 40 +, transit tickets there and back and, entrance fees. Also who would like to volunteer to come with the families? We might need languages other than English. You'd pay your way.
