Home for the Games – November 2009 to March 2010
Do you have a room or suite to share with visitors during the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Games?
Thousands of visitors, including the families of international athletes, are in need of affordable accommodation for the 2010 Olympic Games. At the same time, people in Vancouver are looking for a way to share in the spirit of the Games. Home For The Games (HFG) is a non-profit initiative that will bring these two groups together to foster friendship and generosity, and raise funds to help tackle homelessness in Vancouver.
Under the Home for the Games system, hosts keep 50% of the home-stay revenue. The other half will go directly to charities working to eliminate homelessness in Vancouver. Location: Metro Vancouver Cost:
There is no costs for those who would like to register their spare room or suite. Visit www.homeforthegames.com to learn more.
Vancity has partnered with Home for the Games and we are excited to be participating in the 2010 Olympic Games with an organization and program that aligns so well with our vision and values. This program is a great way to share the spirit of the Games with new friends from around the world. It's also a way to help our city's most vulnerable people.
