Haitian Earthquake Relief
Kudo's to my colleague Paula Littledale who came up with this gem of an idea!
As we have all witnessed, the devastation in Haiti is shocking and widespread. Our hearts go out to the residents of this wonderful country and their friends and families around the world who are anxiously awaiting word.
Paula challenged me this morning to match her move to donate the equivalent of the shared success bonus that I have received from Vancity in my membership shares. I took her up on that challenge, and I challenged my other colleagues to do the same. Now we are challenging all of you to donate the equivalent sum of your Vancity shares.
The Canadian government is currently matching these contributions, so what a wonderful way to pay it forward to a nation so in need of assistance!

Americans from all walks of are responding generously to the Haiti tragedy. Millions of dollars are being raised for the victims. If you were considering doing your part then that would be great and deeply appreciated. Likewise, did you know that Pat Robertson said that the said fortuitous event was caused by their making a pact with the devil to cast out their French oppressors 2 centuries ago, it doesn't look good. May this be true or not, it has already caused a big damage to a lot of families. Nonetheless, prayer is a big help for everyone.

Despite this upsetting
Despite this upsetting situation, it's still good to see that people around the world are united as one to give relief to the people of Haiti. That's one thing that we should thank for. However, constructive and legitimate criticism should never be stifled, neither should free speech, but basically saying that the government already has aid funding in the form of taxes means that the government should essentially be giving aid for the Haiti earthquake. You know, in times of great crisis and strife, if you don't have a real, legitimate and constructive kernel to offer, you probably ought to keep your mouth shut. That applies to Rush Limbaugh probably more than ever before, in the wake of the Rush Limbaugh Haiti comments.
